HAkA, a grassroots NGO in Aceh working to protect the Leuser Ecosystem...

Farwiza Farhan

HAkA fights to protect the Leuser Ecosystem Area, a 2.6-million-hectare landscape that serves as the last place on Earth where orangutans, elephants, rhinos, and tigers still coexist in the wild. With its ancient lowland rainforests and carbon-rich peat swamps, Leuser holds immense value for local communities, Aceh, and the world, while also acting as a vital buffer against disasters in Aceh.
