Yayasan HAkA meyakini bahwa pelestarian lingkungan hanya dapat tercapai jika suara masyarakat dan sains ikut hadir di ruang-ruang pengambilan keputusan. Melalui Partisipasi, HAkA terlibat aktif dalam berbagai proses perencanaan pembangunan dan penataan ruang di Aceh, memastikan bahwa kebijakan publik tetap berwawasan lingkungan dan berpihak pada keberlanjutan hutan serta keanekaragaman hayati.

Dalam setiap forum dari penyusunan Rencana Tata Ruang Wilayah Aceh (RTRWA) hingga konsultasi kebijakan sektoral HAkA membawa data, analisis, dan perspektif masyarakat di lapangan agar pembangunan tidak mengorbankan ekosistem penting seperti Ekosistem Leuser. Pendekatan ini memperkuat posisi masyarakat sebagai bagian dari solusi, bukan sekadar pihak terdampak.

Collaboration for Fair and Sustainable Policies

HAkA does not operate in isolation. This organization actively collaborates with local governments, academics, non-governmental organizations, and local communities to oversee public policy. Through consultation forums, public hearings, and the development of technical documents, HAkA strives to ensure that every development policy in Aceh is based on the following principles:

Protection of areas of high ecological value,
Community involvement in the planning process,
Fair and sustainable use of natural resources,
Transparency in decision making.

This collaborative approach has opened up a space for dialogue between government and communities—a space where science, field experience, and local values converge to create an equitable development path.

Representing Nature, Strengthening Communities

Participation also means ensuring communities have the capacity and courage to speak out. HAkA assists community groups, academics, and journalists in understanding spatial planning processes so they can contribute meaningfully in public forums. This way, forests and their surrounding communities become part of Aceh’s sustainable development narrative—rather than victims of hasty development.
