The name “Bu-Moe?” is derived from the Acehnese language: “bu” signifies either rice or a monkey, while “moe” means to cry. This concept was intentionally chosen as a symbol to invite the public to interpret its meaning independently and reflect on the relationship between humans, nature, and wildlife.

Through a series of activities, Bu-Moe? Fest 2025 demonstrates that environmental campaigns can reach a wider audience through creative, participatory, and inclusive approaches. The festival not only conveys messages about environmental conservation but also encourages the public to learn, discuss, reflect, and directly engage in efforts to protect forests and wildlife in Aceh.

1. Bumoe Theater
   An ecologically themed theatrical performance that conveys a conservation message through a powerful dramatic and visual approach. This performance stands out as one of the most appreciated segments, as it successfully prompts the audience to reflect on the relationship between humanity and nature.
2. Headline Performance by the Main Guest Star
   Headline performances by Rafly Kande and Orangutan Squad were major highlights of the Bu-Moe? Fest. Beyond providing musical entertainment, both acts conveyed messages of environmental conservation through their work and narratives, aligning with the spirit of the Leuser campaign.
3. Local Art Communities

1. Aceh Youth Environment Conference (AYEC 2025)
   The Aceh Youth Environment Conference (AYEC 2025) is a collaborative forum bringing together young people from various organizations, schools, and universities in Aceh—such as Sekolah Alam Leuser, Earth Hour Banda Aceh, Kami Sahabat Leuser, Bank Sampah USK, UIN Ar-Raniry, and the Green Youth Movement. The event serves as a space for discussion, the exchange of ideas, and strengthening the role of the younger generation in environmental protection. AYEC 2025 also features Davina Veronica (CEO & Co-Founder of Natha Satwa Nusantara) and Tezar Pahlevie (Coordinator of Investigation and Law Enforcement at Yayasan HAkA) as speakers.
2. Tree-Planting Initiative to Commemorate International Day for Biological Diversity

3. FGD on Social Inequality Resulting from Mining in Aceh
   A discussion forum addressing the social impacts of mining in Aceh, opening a space for critical dialogue regarding social inequality, environmental degradation, and the importance of oversight for mining policies.
4. World Biodiversity Day at the YCB Aceh Reading Post
   An educational event for children featuring storytelling and creative activities, aimed at instilling early awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity and the Leuser ecosystem.
5. ALSA LC USK Legal Discussion
   A legal discussion addressing the strengthening of the legal framework for wildlife and biodiversity protection, while also promoting a more progressive legal perspective on conservation issues.

Competition-Based Approach

The competition-based approach is designed to foster active participation among the younger generation through a creative platform that is competitive, innovative, and aligned with the evolution of digital media. This approach creates an opportunity for the public to voice environmental issues through creative works that are both communicative and impactful.

1. Forest Cover and Wildlife Trade Verdict Data Visualization Competition
   A data visualization competition inviting participants to transform environmental data into informative and communicative dashboards to strengthen data-driven public advocacy.
2. Voice-Over Competition
   A voice-based creative competition inviting participants to voice messages about Leuser conservation through storytelling, monologues, and audio narration, serving as a digital campaign medium that fosters a closer connection with the public.
