ALSA LC USK Legal Discussion on Harmonizing the Legal Framework to Strengthen Animal Protection Measures
Wildlife protection and the strengthening of the conservation legal framework were the focus of a legal discussion titled “Aligning the Legal Framework to Strengthen Animal Protection Measures.” …held on June 17, 2025. This event is a collaboration between ALSA LC USK and Bu-Moe? Fest 2025, conducted in a hybrid format at the Moot Court Hall of the Syiah Kuala University Faculty of Law and via Zoom meeting. The forum provides a discussion platform that brings together legal, environmental, and policy perspectives to address challenges in wildlife protection and efforts to strengthen legal instruments supporting biodiversity conservation in Indonesia. Through this discussion, participants are encouraged to understand the importance of synergy among regulations, law enforcement, and public participation in safeguarding the sustainability of ecosystems and wildlife.

This event featured M. Daud, S.Hut, M.Si (Head of the Natural Resources Protection and Conservation Division, Aceh DLHK), Prof. Dr. Efendi, S.H., M.Si (First Vice Dean of the USK Faculty of Law, Doctor of Environmental Law, USK Faculty of Law), Prof. Dr. Abdullah, M.Si … (Head of the USK Elephant Conservation and Forest Biodiversity Research Center) and Tezar Pahlevie (Coordinator of Investigation and Law Enforcement). This event addressed the issue of wildlife protection from various perspectives. Attended by 78 participants (41 men and 37 women)—including university students, community members, and members of the public interested in conservation—the event fostered active discussion. Participant enthusiasm was evident in the high level of engagement during the discussion and Q&A sessions, as well as in the participants’ growing understanding of the importance of integrating legal, social, and environmental perspectives to build a more robust wildlife protection system.
Through this Legal Discussion, Bu-Moe? Fest 2025 affirms that environmental protection is inseparable from the strengthening of regulations and public legal awareness. This event serves as a vital platform for broadening perspectives, fostering progressive legal discourse, and strengthening cross-sector collaboration to build a more responsive and sustainable framework for wildlife protection.
