The Aceh Information Commission Invites journalists and NGOs to Discuss Mediation and Non-Litigation Adjudication of information Disputes.
The Aceh Information Commission (KIA) was established under the mandate of Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure (UU KIP) and Aceh Qanun No. 7 of 2019 concerning Management of Public Information Disclosure. The Aceh Information Commission (KIA) is a non-structural institution within the Aceh Government, independent in carrying out its authority, duties, and functions, including deciding on public information disputes.

The Aceh Information Commission held a discussion and Coffee Morning with Journalists and NGOs with the theme “Understanding Mediation Procedures and Non-litigation Adjudication in Information Disputes at the Aceh Information Commission.” The activity took place on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Aceh Information Commission (KIA) Secretariat on Danubroto Residency Street No. 3, Geuceu Complex, Banda Raya District, Banda Aceh City. Around 15 NGOs and 35 media/journalists were invited. HAkA also joined the activity.

The event was attended by the Head of the Agency and moderated by the Commissioner for Public Outreach, Education, and Communication, M. Nasir. The Chairman of the Aceh Information Commission, Junaidi, stated that the discussion aimed to build synergy between the KIA, media elements, and NGOs as strategic partners in promoting transparency in public bodies. Also present as speakers were the Head of the Aceh Communication, Informatics, and Cryptography Agency (Kominsa), Edi Yandra, and the Director of the Katahati Institute, Raihal Fajri.

The speakers explained that before reaching trial, there are still opportunities for mediation and non-litigation adjudication for the disputing parties. Not all cases require trial.
