Forest and land cover worldwide, including in Indonesia, is changing. These forest and land cover dynamics are now recorded and easily studied through the Mapbiomas Indonesia Collection 4.0 platform, released by 11 non-governmental organizations across provinces and countries on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Jakarta.
Mapbiomas Indonesia Coordinator, Timer Manurung, delivered a message at the launch of Mapbiomas Indonesia Collection 4.0. He emphasized that this platform is a gift from civil society to Indonesia, which recently celebrated its 80th anniversary of independence. This aligns with Mapbiomas Indonesia’s slogan, “learning from the past for the future.” Timer hopes that through this platform, Indonesia can learn from the past for a better future, particularly in forest and land management.
This archipelago collaboration involves a number of leading organizations such as Auriga Nusantara, Woods Wayside International (WWI), HAkA (Aceh), HaKI (South Sumatra), GENESIS (Bengkulu), SAMPAN (West Kalimantan), SAVE OUR BORNEO (Central Kalimantan), GREEN OF BORNEO (North Kalimantan), KOMI U (Central Sulawesi), MNUKWAR (West Papua), and JERAT (Papua).
