Public Consultation of BAPPEDA Aceh about Draft of the Leuser Ecosystem Ecotourism Master Plan 2026-2046
Banda Aceh, Hotel Ayani - 11 Maret 2026. This public consultation is part of the ongoing process for developing the Aceh Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) Ecotourism Master Plan. It aims to ensure the document is participatory, inclusive, and secures support from various stakeholders involved in ecotourism development in the KEL area. Furthermore, this activity is a crucial step in the development of the document, which is planned to form the basis for regional policy through a Governor's Regulation (Pergub).

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Aceh Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Dr. Ir. Zulkifli, M.Sc. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in promoting sustainable ecotourism development and benefiting the environment and communities surrounding the Leuser Ecosystem.

Through this activity, the draft masterplan document was disseminated to stakeholders at the provincial and district levels. Participants also provided various input and suggestions to enrich the document's content to make it more comprehensive and more relevant to conditions on the ground.

The public consultation took place interactively, with discussions and an exchange of ideas between participants and the drafting team. The event was attended by various agencies, including relevant SKPA (Regional Government Agencies), the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBTNGL), the Forest Management Unit (UPTD) within the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) region, 13 district/city governments within the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) region, the USK and STIK Research Centers, and development partners such as CSOs and communities engaged in ecotourism. The involvement of these various parties demonstrates a shared commitment to promoting sustainable ecotourism development in the Leuser Ecosystem in Aceh.
