The 2025 Rhino Seminar Features the Theme “Preserving the Archipelago’s Heritage: Save the Rhino, Save Civilization.”

Sumatran rhino conservation efforts require collective support and awareness from various segments of society. Driven by this spirit, Bu-Moe? Fest, in collaboration with the Veterinary Medicine Fauna Conservation Student Group (KOFAKAHA), is organizing the 2025 Rhino Seminar, titled… “Guarding the Archipelago’s Heritage: Protect the Rhinos, Protect Civilization” on June 1, 2025, at the Gajah Sumatera Auditorium, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala. This seminar serves as a forum for education and discussion, highlighting the importance of protecting the Sumatran rhinoceros—a keystone species in the forest ecosystem and a vital part of Indonesia’s biodiversity heritage that must be preserved for future generations.

The 2025 Rhino Seminar is entitled “Safeguarding the Archipelago’s Heritage: Protect the Rhino, Protect Civilization”

This seminar featured Ilham Ananda from the Leuser Conservation Forum (FKL) and M. Fahmi from the HAkA Foundation as speakers, addressing the challenges of rhino conservation from field, legal, and advocacy perspectives. A total of 128 participants attended, comprising university students, conservation communities, and environmental journalists. The event was supported by the HAkA Foundation, the Leuser Conservation Forum (FKL), Kami Sahabat Leuser (KSL), the Environmental Journalists Forum (FJL), and the Forestry Student Association, reinforcing cross-sector collaboration in wildlife protection campaigns. Participant enthusiasm was evident in the high level of engagement during the discussion and Q&A sessions, as well as a deepened understanding of the importance of wildlife conservation—particularly regarding the Sumatran rhino—as a vital component of Indonesia’s forest ecosystems and ecological heritage.

Through the 2025 Rhino Seminar, the Bu-Moe? Fest underscores the importance of protecting the Sumatran rhino as a keystone species essential for maintaining ecosystem balance. The event not only broadens participants’ understanding of the urgency of wildlife conservation but also fosters the awareness that protecting the rhino means safeguarding the sustainability of forests, biodiversity, and Indonesia’s ecological future.
