  • Comments Off on Vice Chancellor I Unsyiah Launches ISBD Book, Leuser Ecosystem Area Included in Teaching Materials

Syiah Kuala University (Unsyiah), through its General Courses Unit (UPT Mata Kuliah Umum/MKU), and the Aceh Forest, Nature, and Environment (HAkA) Foundation, launched the General Education-based Basic Social and Cultural Sciences (ISBD) book online via Zoom on Tuesday (November 10, 2020).

The book was officially launched by the Unsyiah Rector, represented by Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan, and attended by the Chair of the HAkA Foundation, Farwiza Farhan.

“Through this ISBD book, we hope that we can always prioritize human cultural and moral values in all our activities,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Marwan in his remarks at the ISBD book launch. The Vice Rector I expressed his hope that there will be further collaborations between HAkA and Unsyiah. “We hope this is not the last collaboration, but that it must be continued with other collaborations,” Marwan stated.

The General Education-based ISBD book is the result of a collaboration between Unsyiah and the HAkA Foundation, which includes KEL as part of the textbooks for general education-based learning programs. “KEL is a world heritage site, a form of wealth that we should recognize, protect, and preserve,” said Farwiza Farhan in her remarks.

The ISBD book, based on General Education, was supported by the HAkA Foundation following the signing of a collaboration contract between Unsyiah and the HAkA Foundation in January 2020.

The book was written by a team consisting of Dr. Teuku Muttaqin Mansur, M.H., Dr. M. Adli Abdullah, Dr. Sulaiman Tripa, and Hasbi Ali, S.Pd, M.Si. The book was also reviewed and edited by a panel of experts including Dr. Taqwaddin, Dr. Muazzin, T. Nazaruddin, Dr. Saiful, Ibu Safrina, and Dr. Saleh Sjafei. What’s new about this ISBD book is its discussion of environmental issues and the Leuser Ecosystem Area (KEL), which is considered the lungs of the world and must be consciously protected, preserved, and managed so that nature, animals, and humans can coexist harmoniously without any harm. “I would like to express my gratitude to all the authors, editors, and the publishing team of this book.
