Ketambe
The forests surrounding Ketambe in Southeast Aceh serve as a link between the two vast western and eastern mountain forest complexes within the Leuser Ecosystem Area.
River in the Forest
Aceh’s forests are a source of livelihood for the people of Aceh. Clear rivers flow through them, carrying water along their courses.
Pine Forest
Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Gayo Lues naturally possess *Pinus merkusii* forests—endemic or naturally occurring—that inhabit the highlands of the Bukit Barisan range in Aceh.
Small Island
Small islands are also scattered around Aceh; they retain their natural vegetation and serve as habitats for Aceh’s birdlife.
Leuser Forest
Forests in the Leuser Ecosystem Area still spread widely covering the mountains and hills to prevent the flood disaster from getting worse.
Coastal Forest
In addition to the main island of Sumatra, there are several islands off the western coast of Aceh where the forests remain pristine and well-preserved, including the Banyak Islands in Aceh Singkil.
