The book “Birds of Aceh” was officially launched at Escape Bistro Café in Banda Aceh on Friday evening, September 12, 2025. The book is the work of Agus Nurza and Rubama. The event was initiated by Aceh Birder and supported by the Aceh Forest, Nature, and Environment Foundation (HAkA). The Governor of Aceh, represented by the Head of the Aceh Communication, Informatics, and Code Office, Marwan Nusuf, opened the launch event in person.

Badrul Irfan, Secretary of the HAkA Foundation, also delivered remarks, noting the book’s author’s tenacity, who spent 18 years collecting photographs of Aceh’s birds. Aceh’s rich biodiversity must be continuously protected. One way to do this is by protecting its habitat, the Acehnese forests.

In addition to the book launch, the event also included coffee and bird stories. Speakers included Riza Marlon, a senior Indonesian wildlife photojournalist, and Agung Dwinurcahya, the HAkA MEL and Policy Advocacy Coordinator. The event was well-received by environmental activists, students, academics, and various communities in Aceh.
