The Leuser curriculum is not just about adding learning materials, but about building students’ awareness and character as a generation of environmental guardians. During the visit, the Head of the Aceh Education Office emphasized the importance of the role of schools in educating students to know and love their surroundings, especially those in the Leuser forest buffer zone. The HAkA Foundation also provides reinforcement through technical support and development of locally-based materials.

As part of the curriculum implementation, the Aceh Education Office and the HAkA Foundation also encourage the formation of Sispala (Nature Lovers Students) in schools. Sispala is a forum for students to directly apply environmental knowledge through real activities.
SMAN 1 Peunaron and SMAN 1 Idi Tunong are just some of the schools that have been visited. In the future, the Education Office and the HAkA Foundation will continue to monitor other schools to strengthen the implementation of the Leuser Curriculum as a whole in Aceh. The goal is clear, namely to form a young generation that understands, cares, and is ready to be the vanguard of Aceh’s natural protection.
