Banda Aceh – The Head of the Aceh Education Office, Marthunis, S.T., D.E.A. opened the final of the Aceh Province High School and Vocational School Student Opinion Competition, with the theme “Sustainable Environment,” on Sunday, 1/9/2024, in Banda Aceh.

In his speech, Marthunis gave high appreciation to the finalists who made it through the rigorous selection to the final round.

“The selection process you went through has been systematically organized and proven effective. Now, you will present great ideas that not only hone your writing skills, but also train your systematic thinking and convincing delivery,” he said.

Marthunis also emphasized the importance of this competition in encouraging student literacy, as well as the ability to convey ideas orally. “This competition is not just about writing, but also proving comprehensive literacy skills. I congratulate all of you who have become the best among the best,” he added.

This activity is expected to inspire other students to care more about the environment and actively participate in literacy activities. This competition also reflects the importance of critical and creative thinking in facing global challenges such as environmental issues. Marthunis said.

The Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Mukhlis, SE, MM, said that the competition was made possible through a collaboration between the Aceh Education Office and Hutan Alam dan Lingkungan Aceh (HAkA). Of the 282 opinions submitted, 10 finalists were selected after a rigorous selection process.

“In this final round, the participants will present their opinions in front of a panel of judges, consisting of academics, journalists, and representatives of Disdik Aceh and HAkA. The winners will be announced and awarded at the Education (sports) Seminar in commemoration of Aceh’s 65th Regional Education Day on September 2, 2024 at the Aceh Education Office hall,” Mukhlis said.

Mukhlis also added that all costs incurred by participants and companions during this activity were borne by the committee.

“We hope that competitions like this can continue and develop in the future, to train the younger generation to think critically in facing global challenges,” Mukhlis concluded.
