HakA's support to the Seumanah Jaya community in stingless beekeeping has successfully transformed the perspectives of 15 members of the linot group in Seumanah Jaya Village, East Aceh. Through intensive organizational training and a study visit to a beekeeping group in Jantho, the members not only gained technical knowledge but also a spirit of collaboration and sustainable business development.
Before the training, the members of the linot group had only a basic understanding of stingless beekeeping. However, after participating in a series of activities, they now have a deeper understanding of good beekeeping practices, from site selection and hive construction to honey processing. The support from HakA, which not only provided training but also facilitated dialogue with village officials, was key to the success of this program.
The study visit to Jantho was a turning point for the linot group. They witnessed firsthand the best practices of managing primary honey bees and learned from the experiences of more successful groups. The presentation by the Coordinator of Fajar Lestari Nursery on the importance of organizational strengthening and the diversity of bee feed inspired the linot group to implement it in their village.
The members showed great enthusiasm during the activities, both during the training and the study visit. The questions they asked showed a keen interest in developing the stingless beekeeping business. Participants admitted that the training had opened their eyes to the potential of stingless beekeeping. They also believe that with solid cooperation, they can improve the welfare of the village community.
With renewed enthusiasm, the linot group has developed a follow-up plan that includes increasing honey production, developing derivative products, and expanding marketing. They also plan to collaborate with relevant parties, such as village governments, agriculture departments, and non-governmental organizations, to obtain support and mentoring.
