HAkA Foundation Trains Police to Improve Aceh Forest Guarding Skills

The Aceh Regional Police (Polda) together with the Aceh Natural Forest and Environment Foundation (HAkA) conducted Global Forest Watch (GFW) training activities for a number of police from Polres throughout Aceh. The training, which was attended by 36 participants, took place in Banda Aceh, Thursday (15/10/2020).

Secretary of the HAkA Foundation, Badrul Irfan, said that the activity aimed to increase the capacity of the Resort Police (Polres) within the Aceh Regional Police area. One of the materials trained was the use of the Global Forest Watch application, which makes monitoring work easier in the field.

According to him, monitoring the Aceh forest area, especially the Leuser Ecosystem Area (KEL), is an important thing to do, because the forest is one of the two largest forests in the world, besides the Amazon forest in Brazil.

"The Leuser Ecosystem Area is extraordinary, where 4 key animals (Tigers, Elephants, Rhinos and Orangutans) can live side by side in one area," explained Badrul.

Head of Bin Ops Polada Aceh, AKBP Afrizal, requested that all participants who participated in this activity be serious in absorbing the material presented by the mentor. "This application (Global Forest Watch) is very useful and very helpful for the police to monitor and monitor forest areas," he said.

According to him, the data issued by this application can be used as A1 (valid) information data so that there is no more doubt among members in carrying out operations. "This application can even take the team directly to the planned operation area," he said.
